The zoning ordinance is the most common technique local government uses to influence the location and density of development. Every property is assigned a zoning designation that determines what that property can be used for. A property owner can change the zoning of their land for a different use, following well-established procedures outlined by state law and local policy. This is called a "rezoning."
The petitions are designed as fillable forms in Microsoft Word. Once the form is opened, use the tab key and it will take you to the next field. You can either fill out the forms online and print them or download the forms, fill them out, and print them. The forms may not be submitted electronically since an original signature is required.
